Solid partnership behind success of Davao MSMEs

Alama, 15 July 2009, Philippine Information Agency) Describing the partnership of the government and the private sector as very, very strong, Department of Trade and Industry Central Mindanao director Marizon Loreto lauded the partnership as the main factors in the recent successes of the region's Micro, Small to Medium-scale Enterprises (MSMEs) which bagged top presidential awards.
Entries from Central Mindanao virtually monopolized the 2009 Presidential Awards for Outstanding MSMEs in Mindanao, which was held last July 8 at ceremonies in SM Megamall, in Metro Manila.
The awardees were Lao Integrated Farm of Davao del Sur (Micro Category) and Davao del Norte’s Manolette Bakeshop (Small category) and the AMS Employees Fresh Fruits Producer Cooperative (Medium Scale Category).
Best Practices Award Winners were also given to Davao City's Masicap 2 and St. Mary's College-Business Resource Center based in Davao del Norte.
The recent awardees were feted during the MSME week celebration held at the Grand Menseng Hotel last July 10. Director Loreto said she is happy and very proud of their achievements saying that the business sector is a formidable force in contributing to growth and development in the region.
She likewise applauded the Provincial MSME Development councils, the local government units in supporting their MSMEs.
Meanwhile, Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industries Inc. (DCCCII) President Simeon Marfori on his insight to the triumphant MSMEs said that the secret to their successes is really hardwork and passion in doing what they believed in.
Lao Integrated Farm is engaged in organic farming and is currently promoting their product coco-sugar. Manolette Bakeshop is a chain of bakeries, while AMSEFFPCO is into exporting cavendish bananas and banana flour.
