Trade expo draws more participants
(by Carlo P. Mallo, 25 July 2009, Sun.Star Davao) Traders from Northern Mindanao and Metro Manila will be joining the Davao Trade Expo this September.
In an interview with Sun.Star Davao, Maria Lourdes Monteverde, Date 2009 chair, said players in the franchising and information technology sectors from these areas have committed to participate in this year's trade expo.
"Even as far as Misamis, we have been warmly received in our roadshows for the Davao Trade Expo," Monteverde said.
In a text message, El Cid Ablang, executive director of the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (DCCCII), said their road show in Central Mindanao also yielded positive results.
"With our business matching during the Date 2009, we expect to get more participants," Ablang said.
In Northern Mindanao, Ablang said that Misamis Oriental Vice Governor Norris Babiera will sponsor a resolution that will urge their municipalities to join the trade expo.
The Davao Trade Expo will run on September 17 until September 19 at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.
Foreign and local traders and buyers are expected to troop to the city for the three-day exhibit.
Individual participants from Belgium, the European Union, the US and areas comprising the East Asean Growth Area have committed to participate in this year's trade expo featuring agricultural products, gifts, toys and hardware, tourism, information and communications technology, as well as financial products and packages for small and medium enterprises.
