DATE does another jobs fair
(Press Release) Energy surges from the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (DCCCII) as it moves closer to the celebration of the 11th Davao Trade Expo or DATE 2009 on 17-19 September at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.
The celebration features DATE 2009 Jobs Fair in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and ABS-CBN. Dr. Maria Lourdes G. Monteverde, along with officials from the DOLE Region XI, is set to ink a memorandum of agreement for the conduct of the two-day jobs fair scheduled September 17 and 18 at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.
DATE 2009 Jobs fair is expected to gather at least 45 local and overseas employers. DOLE-XI Assistant Regional Director Ofelia Domingo said that the bulk of employers will be from the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), Information Technology (IT), and overseas sector. She added that DOLE is discouraging employers from joining the fair for pooling purposes only is actively pushing for direct/on the spot hiring.
Last year's DATE jobs fair with ABS-CBN's “Trabaho Patrol” was one of the Region's biggest as it made 10,000 vacant positions available. A total of 83 employers, 48 of which are local institutions while 35 are foreign and overseas placement agencies joined in the celebration of DATE's first decade. Out of the 5, 295 job seekers, 2, 572 made it to the final interview and 612 were hired on the spot.
Since the onset of the global financial meltdown, the Chamber has been very vigilant in making vacancies accessible to as much job seekers at the shortest possible time. Hence, DCCCII takes DATE 2009 as an excellent opportunity for job seekers to take advantage of the programs and employment facilitation provided by DOLE.
