Davao City Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Center
The Davao City Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Center is the executive arm of the government-mandated SME Development Council (SMED) of Davao. It acts as a service marketing arm between the SME service providers and the SMEs in Davao City.Operating under the day-to-day management of the prime business organization in Davao, the Davao City Chamber of Commerce & Industries, Inc. (DCCCII), the SME Center provides various services to provide assistance for the development of the small and medium-scale enterprises in Davao City.Its vision is to become a self-sustaining and institutionalized center that provides basic services and support to the SMEs in the city.
Small and Medium Enterprise Development (SMED) Council
To effectively spur the growth and development of small and medium enterprises in Davao City, the Small and Medium Enterprises Development (SMED) Council is designed as the governing body for policies and programs for SME development to be implanted by the SME Center. The Department of Trade and Industry, as defined and mandated by the Magna Carta for Small and Medium Enterprises, is the permanent Council Secretariat.

RA 9504 Signing
To alleviate taxpayer's plight for government support and assistance especially during these trying times, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo signed Republic Act 9504 (otherwise known as the Tax Relief Package Law) last June 17, 2008. This new law exempts minimum wage earners from paying income tax, increasing tax exemption for all earners and additional exemptions for individuals with dependents/children. This meant to alleviate the pitiful condition of the low income group – especially laborers – who find it difficult to cope with the skyrocketing cost of living.
