DabaweGNU, Inc.

DabaweGNU, Inc. is a non-stock, non-profit organization registered with the Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission. Its primary objective is to provide its members a venue for technical growth in Open Source" computing technologies and to advocate the use of this technology to the rest of the community.

DabaweGNU began from an Internet mailing list that was established after a successful seminar which featured one of the most well known Open Source projects, the Linux operating system. The organization came about from the list members' common desire to be able to use a computer laboratory. An organization was needed to make the laboratory idea a reality. Thus, DabaweGNU, Inc. was formed and now it has its own computer laboratory and office located in Obrero, Davao City.

Currently, DabaweGNU, has 19 official members (2008) but its mailing list has more than 220 members. Members come from different professions and include students.

Products / Services

As a Free/ Open Source Software user group, DabaweGNU conducts projects promoting the use of FOSS. It is also active in organizing various trainings on the use of FOSS. It also contributes to the FOSS community through its very own open source electronic health record software called the FreeFeathers Electronic Health Record (FFEHR).
